The place known for getting a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich at 4 a.m. after a night of partying in the Montauk hood, has been sold. The broker behind the deal was Town and Country Real Estate.
Salivar’s has been a Montauk fixture for over 50 years serving food 24 hours a day in a one-of-a-kind location on the docks.
This sale represents one of the first sales in the dock area in many years. But there is an opportunity for another, since Town & Country is also presently representing the adjacent commercial property for sale - Lenny’s .
Goodbye Salivar’s. We will miss your filthy bathrooms, your angry waitresses and your glorious, glorious late night munchies while discussing philosophy with a 75 year-old, rummed-up fisherman who hates Barack Obama.
I think I just died a little inside.

Dear Dave:
If you think you died a little inside with the sale of Salivars. you should walk in my shoes. My grandfather Louis opened Salivars when I was just a little girl. He also had a head boat named the FALCON docked there which he and my father Eddie captained during the 50′s and 60′s. As a child I fished with them as much as I could and I continue to fish to this day. Some of my happiest memories are fishing moments. I can only hope the Oberkfells will keep the name Salivar’s since many of my friends still associate me with the restaurant. The “BONNIE” breakfast was named after me and as far back as I can remember it was a favorite. I miss my grandfather Louis and I also miss Pete who was a wonderful man. They made Salivar’s a restaurant to remember. My sincere best wishes to the Oberkfells who I hope will keep the tradition, legacy and name in tact because there is nothing better than a good fishing story told at 4am. Bonnie Salivar Loetscher
you tell em Bon!!!!! remember spending nights in the bedrooms upstairs over the restaurant. my mom and dad worked there for years. and my mom made an AWESOME clam chowder!! i make her recipe to this day.
Sad,sad, sad….many a morning after hardy partying…this was the place to go, dirty bathrooms and all..years later a family breakfast treat for my family..will never forget the memories
Another fun tradition gone. Talkl about local color, Saliva’r's had it all.
I used to go sailing with Captain Ed Orr who was docked behind Salivar’s. He used to take us all over Block Island Sound and once in Lake montauk.
The stories, the celebrities who sailed with him over the years, the wonders of Montauk, long gone.
We even used to see Perry Duryea’s beautifiul yacht sail by……
