Hamptons home owner Madonna treated us to perhaps the most entertaining moment of the Golden Globes—and it wasn’t when she won her Golden Globe for Best Original Song for “Masterpiece,” the number she created for her film W.E., which she also directed.
No, the Madonna moment came after Globes host Ricky Gervais introduced Madge as a presenter.
“Okay, our next presenter is the Queen of Pop. Not you, Elton, sit down,” Gervais said. “She’s all woman. I’ll give you some clues. She’s always vogue. She’s a material girl. And she’s just like a virgin.”
Never one to be upstaged, Madonna fired back upon hitting the stage.
“If I’m still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don’t you come over here and do something about it?” she offered. “I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years—on TV.”
Madonna also cracked wise at The Weinstein Company big wig Harvey Weinstein, calling him “The Punisher,” but was sincere when thanking to the man who helped her create her award-winning song.
“I would also like to thank my manager, Guy Oseary, who I spend most of my time beating up on,” Madonna said. “But seriously, he harangued me for the entire time I was filming and editing my movie to write a song. And I said, ‘Please, Guy, I’m trying to focus on being a director and I want people to pay attention to the film and I don’t have time.’ So then I finished the film and I started making my record and somehow magically and miraculously the song emerged, ‘Masterpiece,’ so thank you, Guy Oseary, for being so irritating.”
See you at the Super Bowl, Madonna!
