The Parents Television Council does not like Hamptons resident Howard Stern starring on the television show, “America’s Got Talent” and has sent a letter to NBC urging them to not buy ads on the show.
The PTC states in the letter that Howard Stern is only an expert at “looking at insecure, naked young women and telling them whether or not they were hot enough to pose for Playboy.”
The letter was sent to 91 advertisers.
Further parts of the letter read, “There can be and there must be, a presumption that Mr. Stern will only continue to conduct himself in a precisely the same manner as he has done for decades. Unless and until his conduct consistently reflects and respects the time, place and manner of an 8 p.m. broadcast television program, we would urge you and your advertising agency to consider alternate network television programming for your media dollars.”
Those are some strong words!
What do you think?

Howard Stern is likely the greatest entertainer of our time. When you consider that he personally delivers 4+ hours of comedy and compelling interviews and parody per day. Compare that with the mere 10-20 minutes prepared by Leno or Jon Stewart’s entire writing team and it is astounding that late night television still can’t compare with the spontaneous humor and quality of the Stern show. There is no question that Stern’s content is for mature audiences, but so was Robin Williams’s stand up material when he simultaneously appeared on Mork and Mindy. (Didn’t we all love that show as children?). Stern’s appearance on AGT will be subject to the usual standards and practices that are designed to keep us from inappropriate content. He’s going to be great.
