Whoa, Basketball Player Jason Kidd Got A DWI In Water Mill And Treated At Southampton Hospital
It’s all over the Internets. Jason Kidd, the former New Jersey Nets basketball star, future hall of famer and New York Knicks point guard, after he just signed a $9.5 million deal on Thursday with Knicks, got a DWI in the Hamptons. The Washington Post, The New York Daily News, The New York Post, even Fox News have all picked up on it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you drink and drive in the Hamptons, you are asking for major trouble. It’s just so completely not worth it.
Kidd crashed into a wooden utility pole, snapping it in two near his Water Mill home at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of Cobb Road and Little Cobb Road, Kidd was treated for minor injuries at Southampton Hospital.
From The Washington Post: Police said Kidd crashed his SUV into a telephone pole in the Hamptons on Sunday, days after signing with the Knicks.
Treated at a hospital for minor injuries after the crash, Kidd was arraigned on a misdemeanor driving-while-intoxicated charge and released without bail, Southampton Town police said.
Phone and email messages were left seeking comment from Kidd’s agent. His attorney, Ed Burke Jr., said in a statement that Kidd was returning from a charity function before his accident, had pleaded not guilty to the DWI charge and was awaiting further court proceedings.
