Hamptons Celebs Sound Off on Election Day

Most weren’t visiting the local polling places on Tuesday, but Hamptons celebrities were speaking up, endorsing their candidates and urging fans to vote on Election Day.

Twitter was abuzz all day with tweets from many of the East End’s favorite high profile residents. New Water Mill homeowner Jennifer Lopez told her Twitter fans, “If you are an American, today is the day to make your voice heard!” She asked fans to find their local polling place and vote and finished her note with a link to Barack Obama’s website, clearly endorsing the President for reelection.

On her Twitter feed on Monday, comedian, host and outspoken Obama voter Joy Behar quipped, “Tomorrow our fate will be decided by the whole country. And by the whole country, I mean Ohio.”

Another major Obama supporter and an East Hampton resident, producer Russell Simmons tweeted about how many people had voted early, adding, “if we vote, we win!” He also identified himself as a member of Team Obama.

Attorney and host Star Jones also endorsed Obama and encouraged fans to vote. “I’ve never in all the years of being on twitter asked y’all to RT a dang thing,” she noted.

Musician Samantha Ronson tweeted, “you know what today is? Your last day to educate yourself and decide who you want, to fight for you, for the next 4 years. #obama2012.”

Amazing how crude and insulting the “Stars” were in voicing their support of Obama. Rather classless and it actually ran on the side of bullying. If you voted for Mitt you were labeled, insulted and ridiculed. The language some of these “Celebrities” used was shall as we say, coarse and rude. How does one celebrity who shall remain nameless say”Take that you Mitt-ches” after election and her S.O replaces the word B*itch in his song with Mitt?. Shouldn’t entertainers just be that? Entertainers? Not pretend to be know it all’s when it comes to real life, money, struggling middle class and politics?
I am sure a few “Stars”came from POOR backgrounds, and were able at one time to use the assist programs available to them to make ends meet when needed. Programs that the middle class people pay for. I struggle every day making money decisions to keep my family afloat and do not have a safety net because (Cough Cough) I make to much money to be allowed to access assist programs. Jobs and a good economy creates freedom to live better and make SOCIAL issues easier to tackle, be heard and supported. I am pro choice, pro gay rights, pro diversity and want to help people in need but I am also hurting and working it every day hoping not to get laid off. Mitt offered that hope, and the pride to work for a buck and able to provide with a sense of dignity. I see us heading in a direction that will have us ending up as a handout nation. A socialist state depended on the government to tell us how to live and what to think. Business capitalism is crippled-not all of us are in the successful entertainment industry. I am sad. Middle class is dying and along with it will go many things my friends. I am not against Obama. I am against poor leadership and lack of ability to lift us up where we belong. So what does that make me? Just a human wishing for more-my way.
