Marine With Hamptons Ties Gets Home Safe

Cpl. Marc J. Cruz, who is from Manorville and is based in Camp Lejuene in North Carolina, came home yesterday on a plane from Afghanistan. Cpl. Cruz is the brother of Nadine Cruz, who works as a graphic designer here at Dan’s Papers.

Marc is a United States Marine for the 2nd Recon Bravo Company. He has been on tour in Afghanistan for the last 7 months and is on leave until July where and then will be back on base. He has not heard yet where his second tour will be. The photo above was taken by Marc’s cousin Matt Cruz, and the photo is of Marc hugging his sister Nadine as he arrived home yesterday.

“I was pretty hysterical when I saw him get out of the plane. Hysterical and relieved,” Nadine said.

Marc’s friend, Cpl. Chuck Donnelly, surprised Marc and his platoon at the airport when he arrived. Cpl. Chuck Donnelly stepped on an IED in Afghanistan last month ago and needed to have his foot amputated. He was awarded a purple heart. Cpl. Marc and his platoon all thought that he was still in the hospital when they arrived at the airport.

We’re glad that you are home safe Cpl. Cruz.

Here’s a video of him coming home.
