June nights are alive with sounds—a beautiful chorus comprising the voices of many animals, including birds, frogs and insects. The field behind the museum is especially rich in sounds, as it contains both open and forested ponds, favored breeding habitats for animals such as Bullfrogs, Green Frogs and Gray Treefrogs. With luck, you may hear the calls of late Spring Peepers, and of two native toads, Fowler’s and the elusive Eastern Spadefoot Toad. First you’ll listen to a short presentation of the sounds you might hear and then venture go outdoors, on the museum’ s deck, to listen to the chorus of the night. The Parrish Art Museum will be hosting four acclaimed designers in the 29th annual Landscape Pleasures, titled “Down the Garden Path.” On Saturday, after a continental breakfast, there will be a symposium with some of the nation’s most celebrated landscape professionals, including talks featuring Eric Goft, Paula Hayes, Doug Reed and Edwin Von Gal. On Sunday, attendees will enjoy a self-guided tour of the area’s most breathtaking gardens, some of which were designed by the event’s speakers.
