This Weekend in the Hamptons: Barrel Tastings, Easter Egg Hunts and More

Long Island wine, Easter egg hunts, waterfront festivals and more make the last weekend in March another great weekend in the Hamptons.

One of the most accomplished performers in the blues, Rory Block has been lighting up festival stages and blues clubs across the globe for years. Throughout her lengthy and respected career, Block has received five W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards for her work, including twice being named “Best Traditional Blues Female Artist” by The Blues Foundation. She has committed herself to preserving the Delta blues tradition and bringing it to life for 21st century audiences. A traditionalist and innovator at the same time, she wields a fiery and haunting guitar and vocal style that redefines the boundaries of acoustic blues.

Port of Egypt Open House & Waterfront Festival 

Friday, March 30, 6:30–8 p.m.; Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Port of Egypt Marine, 62300 Main Road, Southold

Port of Egypt Marine, the North Fork’s award-winning full-service marina, water sports recreation center and Grady-White fishing and cruising boat dealership, hosts its annual spring open house and waterfront festival. The free, family-friendly event includes boating and water sports trials and tips; nature talks; food, wine and beer tastings with live acoustic guitar music; and local artist exhibits. Annual Egg Hunt 

Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m., Hampton Library, 2478 Main Street, Bridgehampton

Children up to age 8 are invited to join the fun with an “eggs-stravagant” story followed by the annual Egg Hunt. The Egg Hunt is the Saturday of the weekend before Easter with a rain date of the following Saturday to ensure that everyone can enjoy the event outdoors on the library’s beautiful back lawn, as it is meant to be. Rain date: Saturday, April 7, 10 am.


Westhampton Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt 

Saturday, March 31, noon; The Great Lawn, Westhampton Beach

The Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce is proud to host their 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Great Lawn in Westhampton Beach. Children will search for over 6,000 eggs and other prizes. The Easter Egg Hunt will be followed by a teen & family scavenger hunt around the Village Business District. Peconic Land Trust’s 3rd Annual Lecture Series at Bridge Gardens

The Peconic Land Trust’s Annual Lecture Series continues with a presentation by Scot Medbury, President of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Mr. Medbury will present “Green Garden, Green City: Modeling Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.” This discussion, in keeping with the Trust’s theme of “sustainability” will explore the topic from the perspective of the director of one of the world’s premier botanic gardens. Mr. Medbury, co-author of San Francisco Botanical Garden: An Introduction to a World of Plants, and numerous scientific and professional journal articles, has been president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden since 2005 and has been involved in the curation, cultivation and interpretation of botanical collections for more than 30 years.

Barrel Tasting at Waters Crest Winery

The 2007 vintage was touted as ‘The Best Vintage of Long Island”—that was until the 2010 grapes were harvested! Our 2010 reds are stunning, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Winemaker Jim Waters will discuss the 2010 growing season and explain what made it such an exquisite vintage. You will taste through our 2010 Campania Rosso, 2010 Merlot and 2010 Cabernet Franc in our Barrel Room. Light h’ordeuvres will be provided.
