Honor the Oaks, Parse the Pitch Pines, Pause with the Pepperidges, Ponder the Posts (Oaks), Savour the Sassafrasses, And maybe . . . Tinker with Twigs, Brush up on Buds, Lie about the Lyonias, Bicker about Bark, But absolutely . . . Wonder at the Wet-Land.”
*Reservations are required for all walks, workshops, and programs* There is no charge for SoFo Members (unless otherwise stated). Non-members $7 per adult; $5 per child Fees include admission to the museum on the day of the program.
Opening Reception: EST–3: Southern California in New York
Saturday, March 3, 6–8 p.m., Parrish Art Museum, 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton
“EST–3 focuses on Los Angeles art in the New York collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody,” the Parrish Museum writes. “Its title (Eastern Standard Time Minus Three) is a playful rejoinder to Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980, a Getty-initiated series of more than 60 exhibitions across Southern California that examines the emergence of Los Angeles as an art center. Starting on the opposite end of the country, and looking across three time zones, EST–3 avoids the tempestuousness of local dramas and the hyperbole of hometown boosterism to present a cool, wide-ranging view of art made in Los Angeles over a 40-year period of unprecedented development.”
At 6 p.m. come enjoy “Inside the Museum: EST-3,” a behind-the-scenes video about the making of the exhibition, followed by a conversation between Beth Rudin DeWoody and exhibition curator David Pagel, with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception to follow.
Members free, $10 nonmembers. Reservations required for the 6 p.m. program. Call 631-283-2118, ext. 41 to reserve.
