The Ladies Sing the Blues—BHHS Parlor Jazz 4
Friday, January 6, 7 p.m., Bridgehampton Historical Society, 2739A Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton
The roots of American jazz stretch back to New Orleans, gospel hymns, work songs, the blues and boogie woogie, continuing to spread and propagate, influencing folk and popular music around the globe. Those jazz origins are alive and well in the sweet, soulful mother/daughter vocal duo Mamalee and Rose Lawler, whose sound hearkens back to early call-and-response work songs, a cappella praise music and all the way up to present-day funky blues.
They will be joined by consummate performer of traditional and mainstream jazz, NYC trumpeter Charlie Caranicas, whose repertoire includes songs by Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Jelly Roll Morton. Their hosts, pianist Jane Hastay and bassist Peter Martin Weiss, will add their sympatico accompaniment to the mix for an intimate, acoustic jazz/blues collaboration. A not-to-be-missed evening in Bridgehampton’s newest jazz speakeasy!
The concert will be approximately 75 minutes in length. Tickets are $25/10 for members. Convenient on-sight parking. Seating is limited—advance tickets available at bridgehamptonhistoricalsociety.org.
South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo)—“Night Before the Full Wolf Moon” Hike
Friday, January 6, 8-9 p.m., South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo), 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton. Meet at the South Fork Natural History Museum parking lot. Hike Leader: Dai Dayton, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt President. Co-sponsored: Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG) and South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo).
Take advantage of some “wolf moonshine” on this leisurely paced one-hour hike with Dai through the open Vineyard Field trails behind the SoFo museum. Then join us afterward for hot cider and donuts. Full moon names date back to the early days of Native Americans. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full moon. Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, wolf packs howled hungrily outside Native American villages, thus the name for January’s full moon.
There is no charge for SoFo Members (unless otherwise stated). Non-members $7 per adult; $5 per child. Fees include admission to the museum on the day of the program. *Reservations are required for all walks, workshops, and programs*

Elvis Weekend at Bay Street Theatre with “Jailhouse Rock”
Saturday, January 7, 8 p.m., Bay Street Theatre, Sag Harbor
Spend a night with the King! This favorite Elvis Presley film from 1957 is perhaps best known for the title song of the same name, but do you remember the movie? Elvis plays Vince Everett, who is serving jail time for manslaughter, when his cellmate, a former country singer, introduces him to the record business. Vince decides to give music a shot after he gets out of jail but quickly gets disillusioned with the industry, forms his own label and becomes an overnight sensation!

This is about a one-half mile walk, so keep that in mind when bringing very young children.
There is no charge for SoFo Members (unless otherwise stated). Non-members $7 per adult; $5 per child. Fees include admission to the museum on the day of the program. *Reservations are required for all walks, workshops, and programs*
