A redistricting proposal from the New York State Legislative Task Force on Demographic Research and Reapportionment could make State Assemblyman Fred Thiele—who currently represents the Second District on the South Fork—the new rep for both Southold and Shelter Island. There will be a public hearing on the morning of February 9 at the William H. Rogers Legislative Building of the Suffolk County Legislature in Hauppauge, and the redistricting could be in effect before Election Day in November.
