Hamsa Jewelry

Do you want the perfect accessory that is versatile and ‘lucky’ fashion for those who thrive on positive vibes? If you like to read the signs, the Hamsa hand amulet for magical protection from the evil eye is for you. It is one of the most popular amulets for good luck and prosperity, a symbol with the intent to ward off bad vibes and protect the wearer against envy.

The word “Hamsa” means “5″ and refers to the five fingers. It is believed to draw positive energy, happiness, riches and health to the wearer.

There are many fresh new takes on the iconic Hamsa—here is my crystal Hamsa design, pictured. Hamsa jewelry is extremely popular among celebrities as a fashionable style. They are susceptible to the being looked at with envy due to their fame, wealth and constantly being in the public eye.

Be free-spirited, stylish, AND protected with the Hamsa!

The Tibetan Panel Coat

The Tibetan Panel Coat is a festive full-length vest or sleeveless coat still worn by Tibetans today on special occasions. For 800 years, actresses and actors portraying the Dakini or female Celestial Beings of Tibetan myth have dressed in this type of coat (called teng go) as they reenact the sacred plays at the New Year, weddings and religious festivals.

I have created a series of ritual vestments based on the Teng Go. The central panel of each vestment is made of precious, carefully chosen silks and brocades, velvets and satins, and special ribbons and trims. Each is reinforced by the beauty, the rarity and the uniqueness of the combined variations to imbue each garment with vitality and ceremonial intent.

Here, my visual interpretations of the unseen world are given a new dimension, whether they hang on the wall ready for use or are actually worn and move through space.

Daring and Digital Fashion

If you want to put some newness into your wardrobe, try some of the fantastic digital prints that many designers are using. These prints feature everything from sweet florals to bold futuristic geometrics. Many fashion labels are creatively placing digital designs on a clean-line dress or classic jacket, turning photographic images into vivid patterns. These flashy, artistic pieces are clever and modern. Computer wizardry has transformed fashion into a visual explosion of wonderful wearable art.

Garnet (Passion)

Because of its rich blood-like color, the garnet suggests a powerful influence in romantic love, sensuality and sexuality. It is also emblematic of spiritual awareness and compassion.

Therapists who believe in the power of gemstones use the garnet in counseling couples whose sexual chemistry has begun to wane. For meditation and ritual purposes, it is used primarily as a power stone, to enhance self-confidence and help to manifest personal and career goals. Garnet is highly versatile. It encourages the wearer to search for answers—and the answers that come as a result of this search will be helpful and important ones. Worn on a regular basis, the stone is believed to boost energy and stimulate romantic love.

Garnet’s message: Because it has a bold energy, the garnet makes a perfect amulet for someone whose confidence or self-esteem needs bolstering. Because of its vibrational warmth, it makes a good meditation stonefor security and intimacy.

Transformative Chinese Fashion

Imagine putting on a gown with long flowing sleeves and being transported back two thousand years. Or adorning a delicate headdress to step into the role of an imperial palace maiden. Or slipping into a silk costume to be endowed with the wisdom and compassion of a Boddhisatva.

It may be some time until these fashions are available for the springtime sale, but dancers for Shen Yun Performing Arts are privy to these experiences every evening. And anyone who steps into Lincoln Center for a Shen Yun show April 20-28 will have the chance to be transported across time for a glimpse of some of the most awe-inspiring fashion the world has every known.

In 2006, Shen Yun Performing Arts was founded by a group of overseas Chinese artists dreaming of a renaissance for mankind’s most ancient heritage. Within six seasons, their wish has become an international phenomenon with Shen Yun emerging as the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Shen Yun’s three companies, each with a full orchestra, dance troupe, and soloists, now travel to about 100 cities around the globe.

Touched by the show’s message of truth and hope, people the world over watch with tears in their eyes. Countless are astounded by the agility of Shen Yun performers. And what has caught the eye of style gurus are the 400-plus costumes that dancers are cloaked in as they soar through the air.

“I saw here the best example of how fabric, clothing, and sleeves can enhance the movement and tell the story,” said famed designer Norma Kamali after seeing Shen Yun at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater.

“What I loved about the show was the authenticity of it,” fashion designer Donna Karan, creator of DKNY, declared upon seeing the show in 2011. “It was like taking a journey to China, here in New York.”

The hundreds of hand-tailored costumes are the product of detailed, behind-the-scenes work by Shen Yun costume artists as they strive to achieve an authentic presentation and consummate stage effect.

Meanwhile, dancers remark on the unique experience of wearing such authentic attire and indeed, switching through at least a dozen different costumes for each show.

Spring Fashion and Butterflies

Butterflies remind us not to take life so seriously. They feed on flowers that they help pollinate, thereby further spreading beauty. They represent the element of air, quickly changing and ever moving, so gracefully. Butterflies are messengers of the moment. They come in a variety of colors to remind us that no matter what color we are, we are all part of the same family.

Most of us limit ourselves by allowing our fears, habits and obsessions to hobble us as surely as if we were wearing shackles. No matter what is holding you down, a meditation on the butterfly can lift you up and help you float above it. The butterfly separates from the caterpillar‘s chrysalis, another word for “cocoon,” and flies away to live a new life. This is symbolic of the fact that, at our core as human and spiritual beings, we exist as the ever-changing and ever-free feeling/mind/spirit that is separate from our bodies.

To create the “butterfly” look, wear soft, floaty and delicate fabrics such as crepe and georgette, embellished with beads, sequins and embroidery designs. When you wear a butterfly, you will know how to gracefully go through transformational stages in order to become the beauty you are, and you will be guided to do it with ease and grace.

Curvy & Confident : Tips

* Elongate your neck with open necklines such as v-necks. A slim v-neck makes your neck appear longer and is very flattering.

*   Don’t go for items which fit too tightly, the idea is for clothing to hug your body so that is gives your shape definition and enhances your curves.

* Any monochromatic color worn head to toe in a clean, unbroken line will produce a dynamically slimming effect. Mix textures and tones to keep the look interesting.

* Black is slenderizing, but add some splashes of color to your wardrobe. Bright colors can actually lift your spirits, too.

* One-piece dresses in stretch fabrics look sleek. If you like separates, put solids on one piece only, like a print skirt with a black top.

* Boat-necks are great for minimizing waists and hips, while maximizing smaller shoulders. Avoid if you have broad shoulders.

Hamptons Fashion Fix: Wild Thing

Leopard fashion can be seen everywhere—in accessories, tunics, shawls, coats, sweaters and dresses. Leopard clothing gives the wearer a sexy, stylish, up-to-date look, never out of style. Leopard prints add such a fun element to any outfit!

I’m in love with my velvet leopard jacket that I designed (shown here, available at Bergdorf Goodman)—and have worn it a lot—it makes me feel protected, sexy and strong.

Be sure to keep this bold, edgy look chic and tasteful. If you stick to adding an animal-print accent to one item, like a scarf or bag, or simply go with a more subtle shade of leopard print for a dress or jacket, you’ll feel a cool, catlike courage when you walk into a room. The leopard print is one trend worth investing in, it’s classic.

Real Beauty

Real beauty comes from the heart and the soul.

Someone who is comfortable in their own skin embodies true beauty.

A person who sparkles with a great sense of humor radiates beauty.

Someone who is on a spiritual journey of acceptance, respect, tolerance and gratitude is beautiful.

A person who is generous is beautiful.

A kind, compassionate heart and a wise mind radiates true beauty.

I define real beauty as beauty that reflects the true heart and individuality of a person. A beauty that is not encumbered by the commercial ideals of perfection.
