The Atlantic Ocean in the Hamptons Was Epic Yesterday

Yesterday at dusk, with the sun giving off an absolutely perfect amount light on top of saltwater, I sat in complete in awe by the beauty of the ocean at the beach in Southampton (no I’m not going to say which one because it’s my secret beach).

Not only was I the only one on the beach for as far as I could see, but even being a local guy and having seen the beaches of the Hamptons nearly every day of my life, it still blows my mind how gorgeous it is. Yesterday was a particularly amazing day, and if you are stuck in New York City right now wondering if this weekend is going to be a good weekend to come out East, just have a look at the video below and I think you’ll have your answer.

Harry Scores Over Nacho at Greenwich Polo

Prince Harry’s goodwill tour of the USA took him to a para-Olympics event in Colorado, to a baseball match in Harlem with Alex Teixeira, to a tour of the ravaged Jersey shore with Governor Chris Christie.

Thanks to Peter Brant, cofounder of Bridgehampton Polo Club, the Greenwich Polo Club and the Saratoga Polo Association, Harry ended his tour in princely fashion with a polo match at Brant’s Greenwich Polo Club.

The prince made the trip to Connecticut for a charity polo match and luncheon—dubbed the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup—after Harry’s children’s charity in Lesotho. At lunch, the prince sat between Karolina Kurkova and Brant’s wife, super model Stephanie Seymour.

Hamptons’ favorite polo player Nacho Figueras arrived with his gorgeous wife Delfina Blaquier and their baby daughter. Also on hand were Olivia Palermo,Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti.

The match between Harry’s team, the Sentebale Squad, and Nacho’s St. Regis team ended with Harry scoring the game-winning point with less than two minutes to go. The announcer mistakenly announced one of Harry’s teammates as having scored, but the very gracious Nacho trotted up to the judges’ stand and said, “That was Harry’s goal.”

The prince could not have been more thrilled to end his American visit in such a manner.

If You’re a Hamptons Boat Owner in a Panic to Get it Ready Before Memorial Day, I Feel Your Pain

I’m in a complete state of panic right now because an absolutely ridiculous amount of work needs to be done on my sailboat before Memorial Day weekend comes around, and I’ve noticed that I’m not the only one at my boatyard in East Hampton.

Everybody down at the marina is hustling. Guys are scraping the bottoms and rigging up sails, they are sanding, they are praying their engines will start and they are furnishing their teak rails. It’s crazy to see how many people wait until the last couple of weeks to get this work done.

So far, in the last week, I sanded the teak and tiller, ripped out the old non-working electrical system and replaced all lights with low-power-drawing LEDs, and I just installed a new rub rail, which was worth the effort but a huge pain. I’m currently in the process of fixing an ugly ding on the bow with some fiberglass, then I have to paint, then sand, then paint, then wash away all the loose grit that is EVERYWHERE. Then stick on the new registration and new lettering, and then finally get the damn thing in the water. To those of you who have the thousands of bucks to pay a professional to do all of this. I envy you.

In the end though, it will be worth it. Here’s a video of what the new finished rub rail looks like. I hate the damage on the bow!

Coen Bros Release “Inside Llewyn Davis” Trailer

The official first trailer for the Coen Brothers‘ latest, Inside Llewyn Davis, was released last week and it features several Riverhead locations. The Coens—creators of The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, True Grit, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, Fargo and a dozen other classics—shot the film in Riverhead last March.

The Coen Brothers filmed scenes around Riverhead, some of which appear in the trailer, such as the Riverhead Water District land on Northville Turnpike and a nearby potato barn. Taking advantage of the expansive flat land and rough-around-the-edges flavor in Riverhead, the locations were dressed to look like gas stations and a garage in the American Midwest.

Inside Llewyn Davis is the tale of a fictional singer-songwriter (Oscar Isaac) who navigates New York‘s folk music scene during the 1960s. Along with Isaac, the film stars Coen Brothers‘ staple John Goodman, F. Murray Abraham, Carey Mulligan, Adam Driver and Justin Timberlake.

See if you can spot the Riverhead locations in the Inside Llewyn Davis trailer below, then leave a comment with the time stamp!

Jill Zarin Shopping in the Hamptons

Former Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin is already out of Manhattan and likely enjoying her new $8-million Southampton home.

One of our South O’ spies spotted her shopping for dog treats at One Stop Pet Shop in Southampton, just before closing on Wednesday evening. Dressed in yellow, Zarin ignored her “Call Me Maybe” ringtone and suffered over finding the ideal chicken strips for her pampered pooches!

Zarin and husband Bobby‘s new home is a 6,000-square-foot mansion, which reportedly boasts an infinity pool overlooking a private beach. The happy couple told RumorFix that they plan to open up the dream home to a bevy of Hamptons elite on July 4 for “one of the biggest dinner parties of the summer.” The gossip site also noted that Zarin has been enjoying kayaking on Shinnecock Bay when she’s not hard at work promoting her new line of Skweez Couture shapewear on QVC or preparing for a new television project in England.

Welcome to the Hamptons, Jill and Bobby (and your doggies too)!
