Jennifer Lopez Buys Water Mill Home

After years of renting locally and seeking the perfect Hamptons home, pop diva Jennifer Lopez has found her dream home on Bay Lane in Water Mill. The luxurious estate cost $10 million and includes sauna, steam room, theater, pool and pool house, according to the New York Post.

The 8,500-square-foot home has a total eight bedrooms and seven full bathrooms, several lovely covered porches and balconies, and room to build a guest house and tennis court on its three-acre expanse. The property was listed by Corcoran‘s Susan Breitenbach.

JLo, boyfriend Casper Smart and her children stopped by the house several times before deciding to pull the trigger and buy, NY Post reports.

A 30-year mortgage on the home would be more than $40,000 per month.

Roy Lichtenstein to POP at Barney’s

Late Southampton resident and “king of POP“ Roy Lichtenstein would have loved the idea of Barney’s in New York selling a home collection inspired by his art. Under the direction of his widow, Dorothy and the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, the ultra hip luxury retailer is now offering limited edition pieces that will in part benefit the Art Production Fund.

This week the store’s Madison Avenue windows will showcase products from the collaboration including beach towels, bags, pool floats, beach balls, paper cups and plates, placemats and china. Lichtenstein’s “Baked Potato,” “Drawing for a Kiss” and “Ice Cream Soda” are among the iconic images used for the line.

Dorothy, who has been an excellent steward of her late husband’s work, would never do anything if she felt he would not have approved, and she knows the line would have “tickled him immensely.” The artist himself created a whole line of dinnerware and paper plates based on his museum-quality works in the late ‘60s and Dorothy continues to use the vintage plates at parties in her Southampton home. (Just one 1969 paper plate sells for $400–$1,000 on eBay, by the way.)

The Barney’s line sells from $28 to $295 and 25 percent will go to the Art Production Fund. Note to collectors: This is a one time only production. Once it sells out, Barney’s will not run a second edition. So get on over to Madison and grab your exclusive Lichtenstein beach towel so you can plop on POP at Coopers Beach.

Julian Schnabel Honored by Creative Time

Montauk resident Julian Schnabel was honored by Creative Time, a non-profit organization that commissions and presents ambitious public art pieces by thousands of artists around the world, at the company’s annual Spring Gala. The event was held at the former Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn last week.

Creative Time notes that it shares Schnabel‘s spirit of  artistic, intellectual and social freedom. “He is an artist who freely creates in every medium that excites him, from painting and sculpture, to architecture and furniture, to film. We both believe deeply in artists’ power to spark not only reflection and wonder, but also meaningful political and cultural change, and we boldly take on complex issues, compelling audiences to confront their own humanity,” the organization explains. “We couldn’t have been more excited to honor Julian for his robust influence on art, artists and culture.”

Schnabel‘s Montauk neighbor Dick Cavett was also in attendance.

The annual gala enables Creative Time to help artists realize their dreams, and to commission groundbreaking work in New York City and around the world.

Ireland Baldwin Stands Up to Body Critics

Hamptons regular Ireland Baldwin, daughter of Amagansett’s Alec Baldwin, spoke out with a very sensible and wise a blog post last week after her physical appearance was criticized and she was called “too fat to model.” Ireland shared her modeling aspirations with the media last month, and is featured in the June issue of Vanity Fair.

Here’s what she wrote:

Of course I get those comments about how I am too fat to model, how I am not model material, how I am an unattractive girl, how I am too tall, etc. I understand. I don’t look as glamourous as Rosie Huntington Whitely when leaving the gym. I’m actually really sweaty. Like really sweaty … I AM NOT MY PARENTS. My mom is one of the most beautiful woman in the world. She is 5’9, I am 6’2. She is petite and fragile, and I am fit and…. more to love tehe. I have a booty, she has a thigh gap. As she emerged from her teen years, she developed an angular face and striking cheekbones. I am still a teen making my way out of my awkward phase. I am still trying to figure this whole thing out.

Good for you, Ireland. Keep workin’ it.

Martha Stewart Tries Internet Dating

East Hampton’s Martha Stewart dove into the dating pool last week—with the help of Match.com.

In a Today show interview, Stewart told Matt Lauer that she wanted someone to have breakfast with. Within hours of her on-air admission, the single 71-year-old reportedly received more than 1,000 responses on the online dating site.

Jill Rappaport Hosts Travels With Charlie Dog Walk

Jill Rappaport served as celebrity host of last weekend’s first-ever Travels With Charley Dog Walk, presented by Bay Street Theatre and Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) in honor of Steinbeck Weekend in Sag Harbor on Saturday. Barbara Slifka served as Honorary Chair.

More than 30 dog owners and their best friends began the 5K walk at Havens Beach and finished with a “Bagels and Bones” reception at Bay Street Theatre. For raising $1,000 at the event, Lizzie Goldstein won the day’s grand prize—an ARF tote-bag and two tickets to one of Bay Street’s main stage shows this season.

The Travels With Charley Dog Walk raised a total of $2,000 to benefit ARF and Bay Street Theatre. “I can’t think of a better way to spend a Hamptons day than walking my dogs, who at one time were all strays, for this wonderful event in May!” Rappaport said.

In 1960, John Steinbeck set off from his home in Sag Harbor with his French poodle, Charley, to drive cross country. He would travel alone, stay at campgrounds and talk to the locals along the way. Steinbeck’s book-length account of his journey, Travels With Charley, became a best-seller.
