YES
LET THEM STAND

How come the town never said a word about the art that has been on their property for years ? Always a sculpture in their yard and nobody has said a peep !
And the Legs was from our 'own'. The maestro, Larry Rivers.
What's wrong w that town ? Good lord, let them be, they're an important part
of the East End's neverending legacy.

Of course there's a giant Richard Serra sculpture free standing right on Ocean Road in front of the Rizzoli home.
And numerous sculptures all throughout the Hamptons, with some right down from Dan's Papers on your side of the road.

It's a travesty, to even have to go through this, being bothered on your own property.....

Wonderful painting David. Interesting, colorful, cheery and looks professional. You most definitely have a gifted talent as your father. Art to me is a journey. Very rewarding personally... and it's kind of being like a chef, it does good for those who we share it with, also.

Why does the article in your magazine on page 11 have a cropped photo that with the caption "Pollack at 100" that also appears in a blog from December 2010 in an uncropped version? Seems like you have some explaining to do Dan.

Comment on East End Will Get A Scoot A Train by Richard M. Kostura aka Michael Galileo

I've been hearing about this from various local news sources lately. I think it's a good idea, but I also think we should look seriously and responsibly at the bigger picture. The east end is no longer a secret, and is choking on seasonal traffic- many driving while impaired by winery "flights"- and without a viable economic base as we head into the future of our "new normal" reality.

I know the scoot trains are just a part of the 5 Towns Rural Transit groups master plan, which also includes increased bus connections and service, but I still don't think the plan goes far enough to maximize the potential for a much greater quality of life for all on the east end that a well thought out plan could. when you look at the current MTA map of Long Island service, it becomes blatantly obvious (cover your ears if you can't handle this truth) that Riverhead needs to become to the east end what the LIRR Jamaica Station is to the 5 boroughs. Albeit a nice newA rail connection from Pt. Jefferson to a transit hub in Riverhead and one from Westhampton or Hampton Bays, would give people from Montauk Point westward a direct rail connection to the Bridgeport/ Connecticut ferry, and those in New England a direct rail connection to Montauk. Connecting all of the western branches of the LIRR to a hub in Riverhead would also give vehicle free access to everyone from the west to our vineyards and beaches, promoting a greener and less congested way to increase revenue flows in the area, while protecting quality of life.
The new rail links from Pt. Jeff and Westhampton to Riverhead could be low impact, attractive monorail systems that could offer scenic views of the pine barrens from high above, a feature of the trip alone not possible at the moment that would encourage usage and ridership.
The increase of visitors without vehicles will also offer many opportunities for local shuttle operations to blossom, like the one in EH village last summer, moving people at no charge from trains and Jitneys, to beaches. Even restaurants now offer lunch delivery to some beaches during the season.
Of course all of this would also aid in the movement of the workforce as well, both coming and going to and from the area.
Imagine a system that connected all of the area by rail to the Orient Point ferry and Bridgeport ferry and up island as well.
I know this sounds appalling to many, but those that think it best to drag feet and only submit to change under duress would be wise to look more realistically at the "natural resources" of our area and appreciate that a plan that protects those resources with the proven benefits of rail transportation (pollution, congestion, accidental death, oil usage) while increasing the patronage and opportunities of our areas businesses and the mobility and freedom of our local citizens should be considered.
Congratulations on your move, and I wish you the best in your new location.
