Inspection Requires a Scientific Approach
A thorough and complete visual inspection of the property is an essential first step towards detecting mold. Brad relies on his training in mold testing as well as years of construction experience to detect moisture intrusion and hidden mold. Instruments such as Thermal Imaging Camera, Moisture Meters (protimiter) and advanced Fiber Optic Scopes (boroscope) allow him to detect problems that might not be visible to an untrained eye.

Air Monitoring is another key component of a thorough mold investigation. Air samples are collected via an Anderson Style Bioaerosol Sampler. This type of sampler imparts viable spores on potato dextrose agar petri dishes.

Topical Samples, if any, are taken through the use of swabs. At the laboratory, the swab samples are transferred to potato dextrose agar petri dishes, incubated, and identifies as described above. Lift Tape Tests are taken and put on a microscopic slide, this test is used specifically for the detection of Stachybotrys (black mold).
