Canio’s Cultural Cafe Hosts a Winter Jazz Concert

On Saturday, December 29 at 5 p.m., Canio’s Cultural Cafe hosts a Winter Jazz concert featuring Steve Shaughnessy on bass and Tom dePetris on guitar. Guitarist Tom DePetris, a native of Bridgehampton, has been active in the East End music scene for many years. He was leader of the popular jazz funk band Solar that played local clubs in the late ’70s and early ’80s. DePetris is also a music educator. He lives in Saugerties, NY.
Bass player Steve Shaughnessy of Sag Harbor has been performing jazz and classical music for decades on the East End. A frequent performer with various chamber groups and orchestras, he is also a music educator. DePetris and Shaughnessy have played together for nearly 30 years. Their program at Canio’s will feature a selection of jazz standards as well as original compositions. A free will donation will be asked. For more information, call 725-4926.
