Free Cold Stun Sea Turtle Lecture at LI Aquarium

06:00 pm
LI Aquarium, Riverhead,

Cold-stun season is fast approaching. Cold-stunning is hypothermia for sea turtles. Sea turtles become cold stunned when the water temperature reaches about 50 degrees, making the animal immobile. Many of the turtles float at the surface and wash up on our beaches lifeless. These lifeless turtles may actually still be alive. Once the turtle hits the beach it is a race for time for the animal. Learn more about cold-stunning by participating in one of our upcoming lectures. Lectures are free and open to the public. Reservations are required. Join us for one of our lectures and learn how you can do your part in saving the life of a sea turtle.
