JCOH Shabbat on the Beach Kick-Off

06:30 pm - 07:00 pm
Main Beach, East Hampton, NY. 11937.

This Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 25th, we will once again gather at Main Beach in East Hampton for another Summer of Shabbat on the Beach. It’s been at least a dozen years now that we’ve brought this innovative family service to the Hamptons. Over the years, it has been duplicated across the country by many who have come and seen our service and brought it back to their rabbis and cantors for examination. We have seen pictures from Florida to San Francisco, and celebrate that it has spread to so many areas.

We welcome everyone to our service at the Beach; it begins at 6:30 on Main Beach, and lasts no more than half an hour with some of the basic Shabbat prayers being sung. Each week, as part of our Shabbat experience, we listen to a magical story by Rabbi Zimmerman. In recent years, it has been followed by a special Mitzvah project for young children, Projects range from making Tzedaka Boxes to collecting backpacks for Jewish children whose families can’t afford to gather school supplies on their own.
