Montauk Free Music Festival
Gazebo on the Green, Montauk,
Montauk is getting ready to pulsate when established and emerging independent musicians perform at the Montauk Music Festival, a FREE four day musical celebration set against the back-drop of one of the most idyllic beach communities in Long Island’s East End. More than 100 artists performing a variety of musical styles (from alternative rock, folk, pop, Americana and reggae to blues, jazz, bluegrass, and more), perform for free in the spirit of sharing original music with audiences and fellow musicians. In its third year, the festival is organized by a Montauk native Ken Giustino, Publisher of The Montauk Sun. The festival’s goal is to cultivate an atmosphere of goodwill promoting local charities, and connect local New York “Island” musicians with those from as far away as Vermont and California. Many of these performances are family-friendly and children are encouraged to attend. Meet the Musicians at the opening night party Thursday May 17th at Gurneys Inn, starting at 8:00 PM. A $35.donation includes a 3 hour open bar and hors d’oeuvres, along with 7 bands performing. The business community welcomes the 180 performances spread throughout the town, set in different intimate venues, each with its own unique flavor, including a two day showcase stage set on downtown Montauk’s Village Green. A variety of food and beverages will be available on the Green on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm. T-shits will also be available to commemorate the 3rd annual event along with sales of CD’s from many of the musicians that are performing during the festival. Most of the proceeds from those sales will benefit a fund for the great Montauk fireworks show planned on July 4th.
A schedule of the concerts can be found at themontaukmusicfestival.com/performersbands.html.
