Celebrate local food and foot-stomping music at the 5th Annual Sylvester Manor Educational Farm “Plant & Sing” festival on Shelter Island October 6th through October 7th, 2012.
At this -friendly event community members will gather to plant and harvest fall crops and transform the farm fields through work, festive song and dance, recitations, and food events.
Festival events will include: musical headliners BÉLA FLECK and ABIGAIL WASHBURN, Dan’s Papers “The Simple Art of Cooking” columnist SILVIA LEHRER, a film screening by the GREENHORNS, a worksong workshop, a contra dance lead by the Gawler Family, garlic planting and shucking, a sweet potato harvest, and sunrise yoga.
