The Hurricane of 1938 Oral Histories at First Presbyterian Church

07:00 pm
First Presbyterian Church, 120 Main St. , East Hampton,

The East Hampton Historical Society is inviting Town residents who have memories of the Hurricane of 1938 to attend an oral history meeting-and bring their hurricane stories with them.

Many who attended “The Long Island Express” at Clinton Academy, the current exhibition of photographs of East Hampton after the 1938 Hurricane, recalled where they had been and what had happened to them during those terrifying days. This evening event will allow them to share their experiences and record them for history. East Hampton Village Historian Hugh King will moderate a panel that includes representatives of East Hampton and its hamlets. Among the participants on the panel will be Bucket Daniels, Ed Sherrill, John Ecker, Josephine Crasky, and Donald Halsey. Members of the audience will be invited to contribute-and there will be time for all to be heard.

The event will begin at 7 PM on Friday, October 19. It will be held at the Session House behind the First Presbyterian Church at 120 Main Street in East Hampton Village. Reservations are not required. For further information, please call the East Hampton Historical Society at 631-324-6850.
