Bridgehampton resident Madonna has announced that she’s hired Mick Jagger’s daughter Georgia May Jagger to be the face of her fashion line, “Material Girl.”

The line will be sold exclusively at Macy’s.

Okay, so we get to see a lot of pretty cool cars in the summer time living out in the Hamptons. I’ve been in Rolls Royce’s, I’ve driven Ferrari’s, I’ve driven Porsche’s, and I once touched a Bugatti.

But the other day, I saw for the first time, a car that I’ve never seen before, a Mercedes Benz McLaren. It was like the car Gods came down from the sky, and touched me. The car was pulling out onto 27 off of Deerfield Road in Wainscott. It was beautiful. It roared out into the street just as I drove by it. This car is on a batmobile level. It’s just so freaking awesome. The base price of this car is $450,000. The one that I saw, I believe, is from 2009.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren was developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive and rivals the Aston Martin DBS V12 and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

It’s an insane car.

So yea, if you are reading this Mr. McLaren owner, swing by the Dan’s Papers offices in Southampton, I’d like to shake your hand…and drive your car.

Brinkley Takes The Stage

Sag Harbor resident Christie Brinkley is now starring as Chicago’s Roxie Hart at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The show will run through May 27. Brinkley will take center stage once on Saturday, June 16 when she is honored by the South Fork Natural History Museum for her efforts to preserve the environment on the East End. The event, SOFO meets SOHO, will transform this cool museum into a super hot club for the evening, with music provided by DJs Alexandra Richards (daughter of Keith Richards and Patti Hansen), and her boyfriend, Nick Cohen.

Daytime Emmy Awards Could Go to Hamptonites

Several Hamptons residents were nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards last week, including Anderson Cooper, Kelly Ripa and Rachael Ray for Outstanding Talk Show Host, Martha Stewart for Outstanding Lifestyle Program and Barbara Walters for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment. Winners will be announced June 23.

Mary Ellen Bartlye Receives Top Honors At The Guild Hall Artist Members Show

Congratulations, Mary Ellen Bartley! The South Fork artist received top honors at the 74th Guild Hall Artist Members Show for her photograph, “A Road Divided.” Other winners included Ann Brandeis, Zoe Breen, Michelle Cooke, Barry McCallion, Patricia Feiwel and JoAnna McCarthy. The winners were chosen by curator, essayist and critic Lilly Wei. The show will remain on view in East Hampton through June 9.

Parrish Art Museum Gets It Right with U.S. Military in the Hamptons

The Parrish Art Museum has announced the launch of Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,500 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2012.

With Memorial Day right around the corner, this is one of the many reminders of how important the U.S. Military is to the security and the future success of the country, as well as the enormous sacrifices that it has made in the past.

A lot of our ability to operate as a free nation, even with so many different people, thoughts and opinions, has largely to do with the unity that we have around keeping America strong. Giving these guys a free ticket into a museum is the least we can do.

Don’t forget what Memorial Day is really about while your enjoying your summer vacation on the East End!

Alec Baldwin Spreading Some Yoga Love

Yoga is going to be hot in the Hamptons this summer—at least if Alec Baldwin has anything to say about it. And he does. With the influence of fiancé and yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas clearly rubbing off, the 30 Rock star talked to The Hollywood Reporter about Thomas’s positive influence on his health and lifestyle, and even shares a few moves.

“This is part of life, to take personal responsibility for how you live,” Baldwin said in the midst of doing some moves in front of the camera in Cannes. But as much as being engaged to a health guru has helped him eat and feel better, Baldwin admits there’s still room for some improvement. “She makes jokes,” he says with a wink and a nod, “that I’m not as good as she’d like me to be.”

Remind Me Again of the Point of Shutting Down a Bank in East Hampton

Members of the Occupy the Hamptons movement—which is not an ironic movement in any way, shape or form—decided they were going to bring things to the next level last week when they marched into the Bank of America in East Hampton and made one single demand. A demand, that if accomplished, would make the entire purpose of their bank march worth it.

They wanted a fax sent to the President of Bank of America because, gosh darn it, we’re not gonna take it anymore.

Ten Occupy members who walked into the bank began to read the statement out loud, and if it wasn’t going to be sent to the President and CEO of the bank, then they weren’t going to leave. The statement read as follows: “Please vacate the premises immediately. Your personal possessions will be removed and sold at auction…In addition, we demand that Bank of America cease and desist all pending actions related to eviction or foreclosure, regardless of cause.”

In case you were wondering, this exact same statement is read to people going through foreclosure.

The bank closed down briefly and there was a police response by East Hampton. The organizers of the event viewed the entire thing as a success.

I don’t mean to sound like I’m turning into this ultra conservative, but I simply don’t sympathize with the Occupy movement. It’s not the bank’s fault that you took out a loan you couldn’t afford. McDonald’s is not to blame because you and your kids are getting fat, and it’s not the government’s fault you don’t have a job. It’s OUR fault for allowing ourselves to believe that we won’t be in financial trouble if we take on tremendous debt, that we refuse to do work that isn’t a “position” and that we continue eating foods that are so obviously horrendous for our health.

If I saw any real purpose to the Occupy movement, I’d subscribe to it, but from what I see and hear, it’s a bunch of people having fun and trying to feel self-important.

What’s even more crazy is that the banks that they hate so much are suffering dramatically, but it isn’t because of Occupy, it’s because of their own moronic lending practices that are now biting them in the butt. If you really want to hurt the banks, don’t ever take out any loans like you did when you got your pottery degree from Arizona State. THAT’S HOW THEY MAKE MONEY!

Ugh. I digress. This is too early for me to be like this.

Whole Foods Set to Open in the Hamptons Tomorrow

A Whole Foods “Farm Stand” will be opening tomorrow in Wainscott, and it has a lot of people talking. Whole Foods is one of those love/hate places. Some people treat the company like it’s their religion, others think it embodies everything wrong with society.

My experience with Whole Foods is fairly limited. I used to go to Whole Foods to buy granola every now and then when I lived in Boston, but other than that I really never shopped there.

I will say that when fans talk about Whole Foods (or Trader Joe’s, for that matter), they seem to lose their minds. They just absolutely love these places. I mean, this is a grocery store, right?

WRONG!

Okay, yes it is, but it’s where the cool people go to buy food, perhaps.

Me? Well, I’m a pretty big fan of Citarella if I’m looking for gourmet food. And if I’m looking for farmstand food in the Hamptons, I usually go to, well…a farmstand.
