The eccentric homeowner has applied for a variance to convert three acres of farmland adjacent to his property into a massive, 150-yard saltwater pool, but so far Town officials won’t budge. “It’s outrageous,” an attorney for the Town said on Monday. “We preserve farmland for mansion owners to have nice views, not to build pools!” he added. “Besides, Hodgegrass Mansion is about 10 yards from the beach.”

Hodgegrass told South O’ that he envisions the proposed pool as a “watery paradise” where he and his many guests can float on rafts, kayaks and perhaps even sail small boats. “I’m calling it Sea-lysium,” the billionaire explained. “I plan to include little islands throughout its expanse. One will be a bar, another a tanning deck and a third will be a tented place for lovemaking,” Hodgegrass said. “Sea-lysium will be like nothing else in the Hamptons.”

Despite his grandiose plans, it appears Hodgegrass has little chance of receiving the approvals needed for the Sea-lysium project. For now, the gigantic, water wonderland will likely remain a sketch in the notebook of its designer Jacque di Broviante (responsible for initial artist’s rendering above).

The owners were joined by guest of honor and Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday evening. Neighbors and guests from the surrounding community gathered for the ceremony at the 22-room property, which blends modern construction from architect Roger Ferris & Partners with a restored Greek revival mansion built in 1842 and named after its first owner, judge Abraham Topping Rose. The evening included a tree-planting ceremony, where a Japanese maple was planted along the entrance walkway, mirroring an existing Japanese maple on the other side. This act symbolized Campbell and Critchell’s intent with Topping Rose House—marrying historic elements with a modern perspective.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from the restaurant, operated by acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio and chef de cuisine Ty Kotz, were served at the event, hosted by Pradeep Raman, the general manager of Topping Rose House. Guests toured the property before leaving with rosemary popcorn highlighting herbs from the on-site farm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and products from East Hampton spa Naturopathica.

Open year-round, the Topping Rose House property includes a main house, four modern cottages, a restaurant, wellness facilities, a one-acre farm, a restored barn and a contemporary studio for events. The studio overlooks a heated outdoor pool and affords views of the crab apple orchard beyond.

At the restaurant, Colicchio and Kotz’s menu focuses on the seasonal ingredients from the property’s farm, in addition to goods from local farmers, ranchers and day-boat fisherman. The restaurant is open daily serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch.

Topping Rose House provides guests with a thoughtful and personalized experience. Visitors are welcomed with seasonal snacks highlighting the bounty from the farm and rooms come equipped with Frette linens and top-of-the-line electronics. During their stay, guests enjoy treatments from Naturopathica, exercise in the property’s fitness center and utilize complimentary bicycles and car services for easy transportation to the beach.

In addition to architecture firm Roger Ferris & Partners, Campbell and Critchell worked with interior design company Champalimaud to combine contemporary and traditional elements that emphasize comfort, luxury and the original antique appointments of the property. The hotel and restaurant also boast a striking art collection curated by Winston Wächter Fine Art in New York City. The assortment of bold, contemporary art complements the tranquil setting and highlights local Hamptons artists such as Clifford Ross and Peter Dayton.

A destination for all seasons, Topping Rose House is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hamptons and located near everything that’s great about the Hamptons.

A trailer for the movie was released last week, and it looks to me like the film is going EXTRA over the top in terms of portraying the wild and crazy lives of Wall Street guys. It looks like it’s going to be a pretty damn exciting movie.

Unfortunately, at last Thursday’s amfAR gala in Manhattan, Lopez told E! News ”It’s not looking that great because my year is getting booked up.”

There’s no question that JLo is busy. Along with various clothing, fragrance and accessory lines, the pop star has released a new hit record, she’s producing a television show for ABC Family, launching a wireless brand with Verizon and continuing to act in films and perform live. Adding to that, Lopez announced in May that she has taken on the Chief Creative Officer role for NuvoTV, and collaborated on two shows for the network’s 2013-2014 programming lineup.

First, NuvoTV will air a biography special about Lopez‘s life, followed by a reality series about the backup dancers on her world tour.

American Idol returns for lucky Season 13 on Fox in January, but original judge Randy Jackson will not. If Lopez does decide to rejoin the cast, she’ll be doing it without any of her fellow judges from previous seasons.

Upton wore a white bikini—just like her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue—on the East Quogue set and did some heavy making out with Coster-Waldau (Jaime “Kingslayer” Lannister), as well as some fun scenes with Diaz and Leslie Mann in Westhampton. Nicki Minaj has also been seen on set.

The horse, which was absolutely beautiful, pulled up to a stop sign as the rider appeared to be teaching it how to handle the cars. Naturally, I pulled out my camera.

Since the A-lister and wife Deborra-Lee Furness were seen house hunting in Water Mill back in April, Jackman has been popping up around the East End, being kind and helping out. The world learned this week that Parker signed with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus to market her own celebrity accessory line, including shoes, handbags and a few trench coats. Of course, the line will be called “SJP,” after Parker‘s oft-used moniker in the gossip pages.

She described the line’s style in an interview with Vogue as inspired from “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon,” noting she wants to make “something different” in shape, color and cost. SJP will be sold exclusively through Nordstrom starting early next year, and the shoes will be flats and pumps, “pared-back, simple and elegant,” and priced from about $200–$300, Parker told Vogue.
