As Time Goes By By Peter Doyle

I suspect that even for the old-timers who have spent their entire lives a short distance from Route 27, the loss of some institutions would be traumatic.  If Gosman’s became a Wal-Mart or  Lunch, a  Burger King, they too would understand our anguish.  Yet for all of the changes and reminders that the years are rolling by, one thing remains the same; we keep coming. The thunderous waves will always be here. The sunsets over the bay will always be here. The sand between our toes will always be here. We keep making the drive because the beauty and wonder of this magnificent strip of land continue, undiminished by time, traffic, or technology.  I look forward to the day when I am driving out yet again, this time with my grandchildren and I hear them shout from the backseat, “Oh no! Dylan’sCandyBaris closed, that place has been here forever!”
